About

The New Years classic is a 3v3 mixed, men's and women's lacrosse tournament, inspired by Casey Powell's Speed Lacrosse, having similar rules and game play. Teams play with tennis balls shooting on 3x3 goals. For more details, checkout the Rules and Game Play section.

We chose New Year's weekend to take advantage of the great weather in Phoenix, AZ. The tournament is a fun, fast pace, coed, and all-ages. If you've wanted to try lacrosse, this is a great oppurtunity.

Registration

Rules and Game Play

All games will have a referee who will keep track of time, score, and ensure fair and consistent game play.

All teams will engage in pool play leading to play-off bracket and championship.

5 person roster
3 offensive players
2 defensive players
1 player in goal

Equipment

Stick (required)
Reversible pinnie (required)
Helmet / goggles
Gloves

Game Play

Halves begin with rock, paper, scissors
6 minute halves played with a running clock
5 minute half time
No out of bounds, chase everything! (no run outs)
Goalies must stay standing, ie no playing from knee(s)
Ties are decided in a shootout. Rock, paper, scissors to decide which team shoots first
No fighting or aggressive behavior. Any indication of it will result in player expulsion or depending on the severity, entire team disqualification.
